The Hindu Mind
The concept of #Democracy in India stems from #Individualism inherent in #Hinduism, not because the Brits or any other gave that ideological model to the denizens of this land. That is why India has not experienced revolutions. Communist successes in #Kerala and #WestBengal were an ideological movement among the literate lot, seduced by Marx, not an internal 'self-belief'. Hence, it faded away in time.

The Hindu Mind
Neither. Actually, the culprit is the #HinduMind: Follow the rules inside the family home, but do what you please outside. The Hindu way of life promotes individuality, not collectivity at the public level.

Whom Should We Blame?
Government, Babus, or Shameless Public?

The Russian Mind
True. #RussianLiterature, of course, reflects the #RussianMind. It is thus not surprising that the Russian novel, recounting dark recesses of humanity and the stoicism with which they are endured, has often sparked successive 'Troubles and Revolutions' in Russia.

What makes Russian literature unmatched?
It doesn’t escape pain.
It sits with it. Names it, breaks it open, redeems it.
Before War and Peace, Russian writers had already turned suffering into sacred text.
Let’s walk through it. Then we’ll get to Tolstoy. 🧵

Surely, this should be an example for students worldwide of the vagaries of the lateral #HinduMind.

The Beating of Retreat ceremony at Attari-Wagah on the Indo-Pak border is apparently set to resume this week. This is extraordinary. Merely two weeks ago, the two were waging a near full-scale war that could have spiralled out of control, even apparently, into the nuclear dimension!! In this rite, soldiers from respective armies ape each other side by side, foot by foot. That apart, it is difficult to discern the purpose of this colonial liturgy relic unless it is simply the lure of lucre (from the spectators). Does the Indian polity not recognise that this long-standing ritual subliminally reinforces the impression of India's equivalence with Pakistan? That, ironically enough, one enduring objective of Indian foreign policy is to disabuse the world of any such parity? A part of the explanation, at least, may lie in the #HinduMind. It is suffused with veneration for rituals and (repetitive) mantras. The form is idealised; the substance is secondary. The British objective was to show the Empire's might to its subjects. What is the objective of the (secular) Republic of India?

Ah! I understand now. The Chinese are not playing, but the ball has
somehow lobbed back into the American court. So, in effect, any deal will
have to be done by and between the Americans themselves.

Last week, "the ball is in the Chinese Court". What is the "right direction" in which it is now moving?

These people living in their ivory towers are clueless. India missed every single train in the past and will miss every single opportunity in the future. India has no potential. You can increase the tariff on Chinese goods to 1,000%, yet India will fail to benefit from this. x.com/ashajadeja325/…

Not bad, but is this good? What does it say about the much-touted
American values?

“He made 2.5 million today and he made $900 million. That’s not bad.”
Sounds like market manipulation to me. That’s bad.

Destroy History First
#Qing dynasty scholar, #GongZizhen, said that to destroy a country, you must first destroy its history. (In 2016, #XiJinping quoted Gong to justify the necessity for #CCPChina to govern the country "strictly.")

"The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history. Then have someone write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was"
