, I vividly remember his father, #IsiLeibler, wielding his naked influence in persuading PM #Hawke that Australia should take the "lead in rescuing" Jewish Refuseniks from "Soviet tyranny".
On 12 January 2026, a tweet asserted that SA Premier #Malinauskas had taken "instructions from Zionist Jews Mark Leibler and Jeremy Leibler to sack #DrRandaAbdelFattah from Adelaide Writers’ Week". I responded:
I well recall the day in May 1984 being instructed that my focus should not be on Human Rights in general in the #SovietUnion - "forget the Balts" - but on #JewishRefuseniks. This direction came directly from the PMO in Canberra. Visits by #IsiLeibler, #SamLipski, and #MarcusEinfeld followed. Thereafter, our HR efforts were largely devoted to Refuseniks. PM Hawke's 1987 visit to the Soviet Union focused so much on issues concerning #SovietJewry that even #Gorbachev was surprised.
