Australian Values
A very apt point. Thought-provoking too.Thank you.
I believe that the Australian Civilisation does have identifiable values, but not in the sense Taylor, Pauline and their ilk define them. Writers such as Patrick White, Frank Hardy, Henry Lawson, Donald Horne, poet Shaw Neilson and several others have all contributed to defining Australian values.
(As a CQ practitioner, mindful of more divisive debates to come on this issue - inextricably intertwined with the catalysts for the White Australia policy - I am addressing this subject.)

I was born in Australia & have lived & worked here all my life. I’ve raised Australian children, participate in Australian politics, read Australian journalism & literature, attend Australian theatre, watch Australian movies & I have no fucking idea what ‘Australian values’ are.

Making Khamenei a Martyr
Thank you for the insightful analysis about the shape and role of the human elements - pride, convictions, history and fears - in Warfare. Cultural illiteracy about such determinants spawns frail assumptions and false expectations. As I observed on 6 March, the American linear mind has catastrophically misjudged how #Khamenei's decapitation would sanctify his martyrdom in the Shi'ite psyche, infusing it with an enduring defiance against the American-Zionist axis:
The killing of and making #Khamenei a Martyr will greatly strengthen the spirit of Iranian resistance. Based on my experience during the #LebaneseCivilWar, I can confidently add that it is difficult for the Western linear mind to comprehend what Martyrdom means in the theological makeup of the #Shiite mindset.
#Martyrdom is viewed through the lens of Hussein's sacrifice at #Karbala. The 'sense' of it goes deeper than that of #SunniTerrorism, which is more rooted in ideological strands and prioritises political goals. Or that of #ZionistTerrorism, which is also a political ideology.
In contrast, Martyrdom calls on Shiites to self-sacrifice for justice against tyranny. The rationalist Western mind underestimates its emotional and mobilising power.
Ultimately, #America might pay for this decapitation, making Khamenei the first Martyr in 1400 years.
