Trump's Goebbels and Colonialism
#Trump's Goebbelsian neo-Prime Minister @StephenM fully deserves Nate White's condemnation, "There have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty or nastiness so stupid."
This fellow does not even know that in the 1700s, India's share of the global GDP was 24% and China's 22%. In 1947, India's share was 4%, and China's was even lower.

Democracy and Capitalism
If this is genuine, #Hitler's analysis is not far from #Marx's in #DasKapital. (NB: The quote below is misattributed to #Keynes. Economist #JoanRobinson pointed this out back in the 60's. I recall #Galbraith using it in the Indian context, but cannot recall whether or not he attributed it or to whom.)

Karl, missing you!
Comrade @MikeCarlton01 , "gargantuan effort", you ask? Bezos’s $50 million wedding pales as a mere modest display of opulence compared to Indian tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant’s wedding last year. That cost around $750- $900 million. Performers included Rihanna ($6-9 million), Justin Bieber ($10 million) and Kate Perry ($?). A pre-wedding Luxury European Cruise for some 800 VIP guests cost around $120 million. Guests to the wedding in India included: Microsoft Founder, Meta CEO, Blackrock CEO, Disney CEO, Morgan Stanley CEO, Bank of America Chairman, Ivanka Trump, Qatar Premier, Rothschild Chair, Adobe CEO, King & Queen of Bhutan. Former UK Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson were among the political figures paid to attend the event.

#WATCH | #DelhiAssemblyElection2025 | At Delhi's RK Puram public meeting, PM Modi says, "...If someone had a salary of Rs 12 lakhs at the time of Jawaharlal Nehru - one-fourth would have gone to tax; if today have been the govt of Indira Gandhi - Rs 10 lakhs of your 12 lakh would have gone to govt as tax. Even just 10-12 years back, in Congres time - if you had a salary of Rs 12 lakhs - Rs 2,60,000 would have gone as a tax. After yesterday's budget of the BJP govt - those who earn Rs 12 lakh will not have to pay a single rupee as tax..."
