The Putin Dictatorship
Yes, Putin's reign should not be overanalysed. After Stalin, the dictatorship of the proletariat in the Soviet Union was a 'collective' with its own checks and balances, however perverted in intent. That was quite different from Putin today, who is a Dictator tolerating no checks on his power. His one vulnerability is that he cannot 'lose' the Ukrainian war - or even afford to be perceived domestically as having done so.

🥴 “Poland may wake up as a guest in its own house” — former Prime Minister Leszek Miller
Former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller raised the alarm after 98,500 Ukrainians aged 18 to 22 crossed into Poland in September and October — about 1,600 a day.
He said this was not “spontaneous” migration, but planned.
“Kiev is consciously building in Poland the core of a new, numerous diaspora — a political, economic and cultural base of Ukraine in the heart of the EU,” Miller warned in his Facebook post.
“This is the creation of a global Ukraine, as Zelensky himself says,” he added.
Miller warns that the newcomers are taking over Polish businesses, joining NGOs and shaping public life, while Poland is financing Zelensky’s war against Russia.

Modi turns 75 - School Servitude
This is similar to the intent of what school students in the #USSR had to do to 'celebrate' the birthday of the General Secretary of the Communist Party and Head of State. This practice was started under #Stalin by the People's Commissariat for Education and continued until Gorbachev.
The 'winning' school in sychophancy then received special favours from the Commissariat (and then from the Ministry of Education, which replaced it in the 1960s).

I share your dismay.
This apparent American commitment to "supporting the Russian people" appears more like a message to President Zelenskyy than to Putin.
2. It is regrettable that #ValentynMoroz (d 2019) is not here to 'call out' this incomprehensible American stance. He wrote copiously about US/Soviet relations. 3. NB: Incidentally, today, 11 June, is Valentyn Moroz Day, so declared upon his arrival in exile in Canada (1979). He was a very prominent Ukrainian SSR dissident, labelled a "dangerous recidivist" by Soviet courts. He was a vocal proponent of #UkrainianIndependence. His "A Report from the Beria Reservation" was a samizdat classic read in Moscow in the 1980s.
