How Not to spread Goodwill
Painfully silly! @narendramodi apparently travels to other countries to meet the Indian diaspora who have left India in search of greener economic pastures.
The point instead should be to promote India's cultural and economic interests among the locals, not among those with Indian heritage. These people, in turn, should publicly demonstrate their loyalty to their host countries, rather than fawning over the PM of the land they left.
In this instance, the PM's visit provided local Indians with an opportunity to showcase their appreciation of their host culture and society, thereby spreading goodwill for India. For example, a traditional Japanese dance performance to greet Modi would have been more productive. What does prancing around, performing an Indian dance sequence, say to the Japanese?
